2025 has been a year of meaningful progress: in the practice, on the podium, and through every course and case in between.
From completing our first full-arch dynamic navigation case to teaching across three continents, here’s a look at some of the moments that defined the year.
In the Practice
A Step Forward: Leading Digital Innovation

This year marked two significant milestones in how we deliver full-arch treatment.
We completed South Africa’s first full-arch case using Shining 3D digital scanning, eliminating the need for uncomfortable impression materials and capturing the entire arch with exceptional accuracy. Furthermore, we were also the only practice in the country actively using Navident EVO. This is an advanced navigation technology that acts like GPS during implant placement, guiding us with real-time precision.
Together, these create a fully digital workflow from impression to surgery. For patients, this means greater comfort, enhanced precision, and more predictable outcomes.
A proud milestone for our team and our commitment to bringing world-class care to South Africa.

Celebrating the Team Behind the Work
Great dentistry isn’t a solo act. It’s built on trust, experience, and people who bring skill and heart to the room every single day.
This year, we celebrated two team members whose dedication has shaped not just what we do, but how we do it.
Misqah: 30 Years

2025 marked Misqah’s 30th year in the practice.
As Senior Dental Nurse, she’s been the calm in the storm for decades, keeping things moving and always putting patients first.
Her loyalty, warmth and clinical sharpness have shaped this practice more than most will ever know.
Christina: 15 Years

Christina, who oversees sterilisation for my surgery, marked 15 years with the practice this year.
She’s someone I’ve come to count on through the busiest of days; steady, dependable, and always kind. The work she does behind the scenes keeps everything running safely and smoothly.

Sharing Globally
This year took me across the globe, from Cape Town to Monaco, sharing what I’ve learned and, more importantly, learning from colleagues worldwide.

A highlight was opening the EAO 2026 Congress alongside Dr. Stephen Chu, an accomplished prosthodontist from New York. Our session explored surgical evolution in implant dentistry, and why biology and timing still matter more than the latest tools.

Another meaningful moment was reconnecting with Prof. Fawad Khoury, my mentor and teacher for years. He’s a master bone grafter, and every technique I use in complex augmentation traces back to his teaching.
This year, he presented me with a signed copy of his latest book which I was privileged to contribute a technique to. It was a full-circle moment that reminded me how much this field is built on generosity and shared knowledge.
Teaching and Learning at the Academy

2025 was the Implant & Aesthetic Academy‘s busiest year yet, with clinicians joining us from around the world.
A highlight was launching our first Full Arch Rehabilitation course, which brought together advanced surgical planning, dynamic navigation, and prosthetic workflows. The response was phenomenal, and we’ll be hosting it again in 2026.
Each session combined rigour with humility, and every complication was part of the conversation. I’m proud of our faculty and thankful to every participant who came in willing to learn, challenge, and grow.
Academic & Industry Partnerships
Adjunct Professorship Renewed: University of the Western Cape

I started off December with the renewal of my Adjunct Professorship at the UWC.
It’s a role I value deeply, not just for the credential, but for what it represents. Teaching keeps me honest and open. It reminds me that the next generation is watching how we show up, not just what we say.
When upcoming dentists learn to think critically and put patient outcomes above ego, this knowledge not only shapes their careers but elevates the level of treatment excellence for the patients they treat across generations to come.

Brand Ambassador for DDS SA
This year I also partnered with the Digital Dentistry Society SA this year as a brand ambassador.
Digital workflows have fundamentally changed how dentists deliver predictable outcomes worldwide.
Being part of an organisation that advances digital education across South Africa feels like a natural extension of the work we do at the Academy, and I’m excited to help more clinicians embrace these technologies thoughtfully.
Conclusion
To every patient, student, and colleague who crossed paths with us this year, thank you.
Whether you sat in our chair, joined us in the lecture room, or followed our journey online, your trust is the reason we keep striving.
Here’s to 2026, and to carrying forward the same care, curiosity, and commitment that made this year what it was.
